Why do you do what you do?

I truly believe that people deserve to live their best lives and feel good about themselves. If I can help someone get to a place of acceptance and love within themselves through therapy then that is enough of a reason. I also believe that talking about things is important and it matters. Through being a therapist, I can help people talk about things that are hard to talk about and also are important to talk about.

How are you making the world a better place?

Probably just by being a good person and making sure I think about others. I believe that by helping one person at a time, that it adds up and not only can cause a ripple effect but also puts good energy out into the world. And we need as much good energy as we can get in this world! Through my work, I am providing people with a space to explore their inner lives and feel better about themselves, which will hopefully translate into their relationships, their outside lives, etc. Through my instagram platform, I try to spread little joys and positive thoughts which hopefully someone out there appreciates!

What are your thoughts on the stigma around mental health and what solution(s) do you have to destigmatize it?

Unfortunately, I do think there is still stigma around mental health treatment and a lot of assumptions about others based on their behaviors instead of a true understanding of mental health. The more we talk about not just that there is a thing called mental health, but how important it is to overall well-being, then the more we can normalize it and shed light to it. If people start having more conversations with their coworkers, friends, neighbors, aunts, cousins, etc, then we can begin to actually build up momentum and get people to understand the essentiality of taking care of our mental health.

What would you like to bring to our attention at this time?

I’ve been thinking a lot about self-care lately and would love for people to really look at what it means to take care of the self. So often we think of self-care as just pampering or treating yourself but I think what is more effective and essential is taking care of the self through relationships, through how we are talking to ourselves, how we are setting boundaries in our lives and how we are connecting with others. I try and help my clients really understand what self-care means for THEM instead of what it might mean for their next door neighbor, or their friend, or whoever else. I believe that through real, holistic self-care we will eventually take care of ourselves and each other.
